Through a partnership with Houston Community College, Bethel’s Place offers GED preparation courses to the community.  Information regarding 2009 registration, class objectives, and requirements is listed below.

Spring Session – 2010
Orientation and Registration: January 5th and 7th
Time: 9 am and 6 pm

Classes begin – January 11, 2010
Class Dates:    Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday
Daytime Classes: 9am-12pm
Evening Classes: 6pm-9pm

Objectives/Goals:
The Preparation Course concentrates on five areas of study:

• Language Arts: Writing
• Social Studies
• Science
• Language Arts: Reading
• Mathematics

Materials needed:
3-ring binder/folder and subject dividers
Pencils and pens
Notebook Paper
Casio FX-260 Solar Calculator

These materials are not provided by the Adult Education Program and are the student’s responsibility to purchase.  Some books may be provided by your instructor in order to complete written work. 

Attendance
Students are strongly encouraged to attend all classes.  Attendance is second only to having an attitude for success. 

Class Format
Each adult learner brings different experiences and skill levels to the class.  Instruction is tailored to use a combination of teaching styles as well as various resource materials. Although instructors are to provide information for learning, class participation is essential for the best learning environment.
